Tailscale is amazing
I have heard about Tailscale, it's not an alien term to me. But I had never truly read about what it actually is, how it works, until yesterday. I was actually looking for an easy way to get public IPv6 for my RPi3 instance at home i.e. by searching for a service that provides free tunneling. But I didn't find it. I ended up scouring through the documentation of WireGuard, reading about how it works (only the high level, not the "real protocol"). And then, I discovered Tailscale, which actually is a WireGuard mesh VPN. Without a second thought I believe Tailscale is the solution for me to access all my behind NAT devices. It's also really secure, end-to-end encrypted. It's like Syncthing but for WireGuard. I also read about Headscale, Nebula, Zerotier, but I still chose Tailscale for its simplicity. It took me less than an hour to connect everything from my T470, RPi3 at home, my phone, and an IPv6-only VPS from 8Labs. For now, the free tier of Tailscale is far beyond my use, number my devices are still far from 100. And I'm happy!Created: 2025-03-01 09:36:33, Updated: 2025-03-01 09:36:33, ID: 7d359c2e-7a59-4109-9dfa-5eaeb7202073
